My Fourth Week of the Webskills Course

The 4th week of the course has been passing by. What I am impressed the most this week is the problems students and teachers are having all over the world. They are varied and ranged from cultural differences to technology problems. As I mentioned in my posting, the biggest problem many of the Korean teachers are faced with is the wide gap between the students in terms of levels of English.  It is hard for teachers to deal with those problems and to decide whom to focus on.
However, it is very encouraging to share the problems and solutions at the same time with other teachers.  It is a great comfort for me to find out that a lot of teachers are struggling to find a way out.
As Victoria Zhukovska replied on my posting about the problem, I firmly believe that technologies are going to play a huge role in narrowing the educational gap between the rich and poor. Therefore, it is crucial for teachers to effectively adapt those technologies into their classroom and to be well trained how to use them. So I am very excited to learn more about how to properly use them and introduce them to the teachers in Korea.

  1. Hannah,

It is great to see the benefits of technology. You've mentioned a couple times about narrowing the gap between rich and poor with technology. It's interesting because my first thought is always that the poor won't be able to afford the technology, but then more and more I realize how much of the "poor" part of the world does in fact have cell phones and now even smart phones. The world is changing!

  2. Hi Hannah
Its interesting to know about the condition in Korea and how the learning of English is affected by your mother tongue. Well it is still better in India because here students are very good at English in general.
And I can understand the difficulty teachers face while teaching non - English students. I was a part of an international group once where we had teachers from Russia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, etc.and got to know about such difficulties there.
I am sure technology will help you solve some of your problems.
